We continue to be very grateful for your
donations and help with maintenance of the cemetery. Greg Hall is the
caretaker, and you will notice all his work next time you visit. He has
been hauling dirt and compost to level low spots and has sowed lots of
grass seed. We are so fortunate to have a person who sees what needs to
be done and does it. He averages 20 hours per month. We would like to
move the debris pile outside the back fence so that it is not a hazard
for children in the play yard.

This year we decided for the first
time to transfer funds to the Cemetery fund from cash in the Trust Fund
for cemetery maintenance. We have money invested in the United
Church Fund which lost money this year in the financial downturn.
We hope for brighter days ahead as the economy improves.

Cemetery Use Policy.
Contact Rick Gano, 503-651-2044, for available locations. A
vault is not required but is highly recommended. A permanent
marker is required within six months of burial, however, an extension
will be granted if estate settlement delays purchase of the marker.
The only restrictions on markers are no plastic or resin, and flat 12 x
24 in. granite must be used in the cremation garden. A plot may be
reserved only with payment of the price of the plot.

Grave Markers
As a service to you,
Grave Markers may be ordered through the Cemetery Committee which
is able to provide them at cost plus 10%. All colors and styles
are available. Joel Daniels has samples of granite and a book of
print styles and designs. Payment in advance may be required.
It is not a requirement of the cemetery that stones and their
installation be ordered from or arranged by us.
Flowers:
We have many flower
containers available from previous years and we’ll put them out for
Memorial Day.
Feel free to use them. Flowers and containers placed on the graves
for Memorial Day will be removed on or after June 8 for regular
maintenance.

Memorial Day falls
on Monday, May 25, 2009 this year.
Did you know:
If you have not been to the cemetery in the past several
months, you will see that AT&T has installed a cell tower on the
back of the cemetery just on the other side of the fence.
The Church has been in negotiations with the company for over a
year, and a new roadway has been built around the north side of
the cemetery to service the installation. The lease
fee will be $1100 per month to increase by 3% per year. We
felt that we had a good
