Angela Stierle. Christian Education Chair, reports The Children's Old Fashioned Christmas Program (December 9, 2007) was a success. With around 50 guests, the church choir and a dozen children, all had fun participating in the singing part of the play. The children that participated were Andrew Mahar, Kirstan Gano, Tonnee Parish, Jordan Wolf, Peter and Emily Yoder, Lincoln and Lucia Bangs, Danielle and Caitlynn Schuebel, and Tessa Frost. Grandma and Grandpa were performed by Chuck and Helen Odell. A soup supper followed the play with homemade clam chowder and potato soup from Barbara Daniels and Linda Dunn. We would like to thank everyone for all their help in the play and the supper before and during the program. A special thanks to Audrey Yoder, who helped me write the script for the play, make the set, and help with the children's practices. Kudos to a job well done. (Photos by Sandra Mahar).

SHROVE TUESDAY, February 20, 2007:  This year’s Shrove Tuesday was another memorable event at Smyrna.  Thirty-six people enjoyed a supper of pancakes, ham and applesauce while Pastor Jim talked about the Season of Lent.  After dinner everyone made a personal Lenten banner with symbols of the season.  The children had their own to-scale paper versions which they colored.

"Thank you" to Audrey Yoder, Eileen Boss, and Susan Buffington for providing such a meaningful craft, Steve Boss for drilling holes in all of the popsicle sticks, Pastor Jim for his teaching, Barb Daniels, Angie Gano, Roger Engle and Pat Bullard for preparing dinner, and everyone who helped clean up.
